Our internship is designed to provide a practical learning experience for those interested in pursuing sound design and engineering in a live events setting, combining technical skills with collaborative and creative responsibilities.

The role and responsibilities are

  1. Audio Setup and Configuration: Assist with setting up audio equipment for live performances, rehearsals, and recordings. This includes configuring microphones, speakers, and mixing consoles according to performance needs.

  2. Sound Mixing and Operation: Learn and assist with live sound mixing during performances. This may involve managing audio levels, applying effects, and ensuring audio clarity and balance throughout shows.

  3. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Support the maintenance of audio equipment, including cables, microphones, and consoles. Quickly troubleshoot audio issues during setups or performances to minimize interruptions.

  4. Recording and Editing: Help record and edit audio for performances, interviews, or promotional material. This could include using digital audio workstations (DAWs) to refine and produce high-quality recordings.

  5. Collaboration with Artists and Production Team: Work closely with performers, directors, and other production staff to understand the audio requirements of each show and ensure alignment with creative goals.

  6. Technical Knowledge Development: Gain hands-on experience with audio equipment and software used in professional theatre environments. This could include learning to use new technologies and updating knowledge of audio practices relevant to live and digital performance.

  7. Health and Safety Compliance: Assist in implementing health and safety standards related to sound equipment, including correct handling, setup, and breakdown procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

  8. Creative Sound Design Support: Depending on the production, contribute ideas for sound effects or design elements to enhance the performance atmosphere, potentially under the guidance of senior technicians or directors.
