Job Description

Spanwall are looking to strengthen their welding and fabrication team, and are offering an exciting opportunity of additional apprenticeships within their fabrication & welding team.

Working alongside the existing & experienced fabricators, we wish to bring on board new talent who can become part of the future team. The role will primarily involve the below tasks:

  • Welding of aluminium sheet metal components

  • Carrying out some preventative maintenance & inspections

  • Completion of all quality documentation

  • Working to production schedules

  • Complying with all Health & Safety polices

  • Other duties that may be reasonably required

Person Specification

  • Motivated by technical activities and furthering education

  • Interested in welding and fabrication

  • Enjoys working as part of a team, with good communication skills

  • Able to work using own initiative and common sense

  • Good hand-eye coordination

  • Experience of handling materials, tools and using machinery

  • Safety conscious

Description

This course aims to develop the practical skills and knowledge which are essential for working in the engineering industry.  Successful completion will lead to the award of a City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Engineering and an ETA Level 2 NVQ in Performing Engineering Operations.

  • Principles of Fabrication & Welding Technology

  • Welding by MIG Process

  • Welding by TIG Process

  • Fabricating Thick Plate, Bar & Sections

You will also study Essential Skills to Level 2 in Numeracy, Literacy and ICT unless exempt through holding GCSE passes at Grade C or above in Mathematics, English and ICT.

As a student you will spend a minimum of one day/week in College and 4 days/week with your employer
