HEAR from the APPRENTICES...

MSO is a great place to work and learn.
I started in the purchasing department; there I had great training and support to progress in the role. I first applied for the purchasing role as I have degree in Product Design and I knew the role involved working with different materials, so I’d be using my degree to some extent.
Purchasing was definitely not my strong suit but the training and support I received was amazing, and whenever I was struggling with something there was always someone willing to help out and support me through until I felt confident enough to go it alone.
When the design position in Loop came up my colleagues and manager in the purchasing department encouraged me to go for the role as they knew design was my real interest.
Once I’d got the role everyone involved helped to make the change of departments as smooth as possible.
Again, the training and support in Loop has been amazing as I’ve learnt about the role and have been learning new skills.
I love working in Loop because everyday is different and everyday there is a new challenge to tackle, the team I work within is great, there is amazing support between the colleagues to achieve goals and get the best solutions for our customers.
I feel that this environment has helped me to push myself to learn new skills and develop my design knowledge and skills further, this can only be a positive for me as well as the business.

I came into MSO as an apprentice five years ago.
After being trained by experienced printers and achieving my qualifications, I became a fully qualified lithographic printer.
Within printing I got the chance to operate both Heidelberg and KBA presses.
The past year I have decided to change role within MSO.
I went on to becoming a fully qualified ink technician and I am currently getting sent on courses to study this more.
For me, I would advise anyone to join MSO especially the younger generation.
The amount of progression routes available to go on and achieve qualifications within the printing industry at MSO is limitless and it’s a great opportunity to further your career.

Who we are

Founded in 1876 as McCaw Stevenson and Orr (Printers) Ltd the company has undergone many changes over the years. In 2014, MSO Cleland became part of the wider Cartoncare Group which has further sites in Newry and Malvern (England) and in 2022 we entered into a joint venture with Van Genechten Packaging, the 4th largest packaging Company in the world, who have a further 10 manufacturing sites in Europe.

What we do

MSO Cleland produce cartonboard packaging and self adhesive labels for a variety of markets including food, drinks and pharmaceutical.

We have extensive design, production, customer service and delivery facilities servicing our substantial customer base across the UK and Ireland.

The wide range of cartons and labels we produce are both functional in protecting our customers goods but also designed to enhance the product for marketing purposes.

MSO seek to provide a high service level and excellent quality through innovation and continual improvement and take pride in how we deal with our customers, suppliers, employees, the Environment and the community around us.
