HEAR from the employer...

At HCA, we foster a working environment which aims to help our staff grow. Whether this is through academic support to further their career, support in the office on dealing with the ever changing face of accountancy or with issues they may have in their personal life through our mental health support; we like to help our staff be well rounded business advisors and ultimately well-rounded human beings.

HEAR from the EMPLOYEES...

HCA helped me gain not only my Higher Level Apprenticeship but I've also recently passed my Chartered Accounting Exams and will become a Chartered Accountant later this year. I have gained a lot of experience over the last five years with the firm, through visiting client sites, working on clients of differing sizes and across many sectors both locally across Northern Ireland and even had the opportunity of a secondment to a local company which gave me further experience of how local businesses can thrive, even in challenging environments.

A bit MORE about us...

Who we are

HCA Chartered Accountants was formed in 2013 when our Principal and past President of Chartered Accountants Ireland, John Hannaway, retired from his 34- year career in PWC (25 years as a partner) and established our firm with his son JJ.

Over the next number of years, the group was formed with two specialist subsidiaries, HCA Business Recovery and HCA Corporate Finance. In 2022, the innovative “Magic Beans” company joined our group, headed by Clare Galloway. As well as our presence in Northern Ireland, we are also part of an international group, Russell Bedford.

Our proudest achievement to date remains the Employer of the year from the Belfast Met Skills and Apprenticeships Awards for Employer of the year.  Our staff are our best asset.

We focus on ensuring they receive the very best training possible to make them the well-rounded accountants they can be.  This award takes pride-of-place in our reception.

Our own staff structure is purposely different to the ‘traditional’ firm approach. Across our group of companies, we have 5 Directors each with their own specialism and their team ranges of experience from 30 years to our trainees completing their training contract with Chartered Accountants Ireland.

Our strong team has produced work that continues to receive recognition. We have received the ‘Deal maker of the year’ award on both an individual and project basis. HCA Corporate Finance was also awarded ‘Corporate Finance Firm of the Year’  and most recently John received the ‘Accountant of the Year’ award.

What we do

While our group is compiled of four separate companies; HCA Chartered Accountants, HCA Business Recovery, HCA Corporate Finance and Magic Beans; they combine to over an all round package for our clients enabling us to provide all the services they may need; from bookkeeping to advisory services.

Our firm prides itself in maintaining a modern, flexible approach while offering premium client service and expert guidance in all areas of our clients’ business and personal affairs.

Our aim is to build long lasting relationships with fellow professionals, based on trust. We never engage in hard selling.

Our approach isn’t just applied to our clients but our ethos of ‘doing good’ is at the forefront of all our endeavours. We are proud members of ‘B1G1.

Every time we do something to celebrate – for example a member of staff passes an exam, celebrates a life event, when we get a new client, a contribution is automatically made to one of 600 programs worldwide that “impacts” on one of the 17 UN sustainability goals.

While our B1G1 commitments are our largest commitment to giving back, HCA strives to support our local charities within our area while also maintaining an environment of giving in the office, by supporting our staff members in their charitable endeavours outside of work.

Employee Benefits

We here at HCA like to enjoy ourselves, both in the office and out! As part of our culture, we provide support for our staff and encourage our staff to engage in professional networking while having fun in the process.
