Apprentices have been great for McFarlands. While university education provides a strong foundation, our specialist field of forensic engineering requires knowledge and skills that can only be learned on the job alongside experienced engineers.

McFarland Consulting are award winning forensic engineers. We inspect, test and monitor damaged and deteriorating buildings and infrastructure prior to recommending repairs to extend their life. Established in 2000, we are recognised experts in the fields of forensic engineering, structural health monitoring and providing bespoke remedial solutions.
Our Engineers operate both on site and within the office. When on site, we undertake visual inspections, collect material samples and use innovative testing equipment, scanners and sensors to 'see' inside structures which inform us of their condition. We install monitoring equipment and perform load tests on structures which tell us how they are behaving and compare these results to computer models. Our engineers are highly trained in what they do and are often tasked with working on structures throughout Ireland, the UK and Channel islands which can involve high risk confined space entry, rope access, working at height and working on water. When in the office, we collate all the information gathered from the investigations and produce reports informing Clients of the condition of their structure and recommendations for repair.
