Job Description


Injection Moulding Apprentice, we are looking for an apprentice who is keen, and committed to join our Injection Moulding department.  Reporting to the Lead Moulding Engineer the post holder will undertake training internally and at external training providers in order to attain the necessary skills to:  

  • Set and operate a wide variety of injection mould presses ranging from micro moulding components to larger components up to 700 tonne clamping pressure

  • Load mould tooling to injection mouldings machines using material handling, lifting and inspection equipment

  • Polymer processing of various thermoplastic materials and material flow characteristics

  • Understand the quality requirements of various components and have an in depth understanding of the root cause of defects and how to correct them

  • To learn how to read and understand technical drawings, setting and quality documentation

  • Be able to accurately measure components and record data in order to control processes within drawing specifications

  • Learn how to optimise injection moulding processes in order to reduce manufacturing costs, including cycle time reduction, reducing energy consumption, downtime, scrap and material usage

  • Work as part of a team to support the production schedule and drive process improvements

Description

This Level 3 Apprenticeship Programme will give you the training and skills to work in the polymer processing industry.

This course aims to develop the practical skills and knowledge which are essential for working in the polymer processing industry.  Successful completion will lead to the award of a Pearson BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering and a PAAVQ-SET Level 3 Certificate in Polymer Operations.

You'll learn about a range of polymer processes including injection moulding, blow moulding and extrusion.
