As the GRAHAM Business continues to grow and develop, we are seeking an enthusiastic Business Engagement Apprentice to join our team.

The Business Engagement Apprentice provides business management services to the department and business and will work with the current Business Engagement Team to:

  • Help identify opportunities to improve business solutions

  • Assist the engagement team working between IT and business stakeholders, ensuring system capabilities are fully exploited, providing added value and support to the overall business

  • Assist the engagement team in acting as a point of contact between business stakeholders and third party system providers

  • Adhere to ISO27001 standards and assist in the agreed Project Management process, including specifications, testing, training and process mapping

  • Support the design, implementation and deployment of new Business Systems

  • Ensure training and documentation requirements are fulfilled

Job Description

 The Business Engagement Apprentice shall:

 Exploitation – System Usage/Development

  • Support project plans and scheduling on projects

  • Support scheduling conflicts between projects, change requests and incidents

  • Ensure users expectations are managed at all times during project implementation

  • Follow project management methodology and ISO27001 standards

  • Adhere to PMO (the project management process) process such as PID, Test Plan, Project Plan etc.

  • Support team in identify opportunities to improve business or function

Training & Documentation

  • Develop, deploy and maintain training materials for key systems as required

  • Identify, prepare and deliver training needs as required

  • Facilitate preparation of business process and end-user documentation as required

  • Proactively ensure all IT documentation for change requests, projects and processes are prepared & validated in a timely manner/in accordance with initiative delivery plan

 System deployment 

  • Support business readiness throughout deployment journey

  • Support system requirements testing and acceptance during software release

  • Facilitate user acceptance and sign off process with business function/department representative

  • Support integration and regression testing during Release Strategy

  • Prepare test data

  • Run test cycles with business users

  • System functionality sign off

  • Instigate and maintain device set-up standards to meet systems requirements, support as required

 This job description is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for the Business Engagement Apprentice and the range of duties to be undertaken.

It does not attempt to detail every activity.  Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder at regular intervals.

To be eligible a person must, as a minimum, meet each of the following criteria:

  • Applicants should also have a minimum of 64 UCAS points

  • The candidate must also have GCSEs at grade C or above in English and Maths, or equivalent qualifications, such as Level 2 Essential Skills in Literacy & Numeracy

  • Proof of qualifications MUST be provided when you enrol, e.g. exam certificates.​

  • Be in full-time employment

  • An apprentice may start their employment up to a maximum of 6 months prior to the commencement of their off-the-job training.

Description

This qualification provides the perfect foundation for your successful career in business management in the private or public sector. The Foundation Degree in Business Management focuses on developing your knowledge, skills and abilities to prepare you for a range of careers in business such as Management, Marketing, Finance and Economics. Learners are supported to be entrepreneurial in their outlook to reflect local and regional economic needs.

The course will allow students the opportunity to study a range of modules relevant to Business Management including accounting, entrepreneurship, management, marketing, organisational behaviour and change, economics, global business environment, finance for decision making, marketing management. Work based learning will be part of the course in Year 2 allowing the students to complete a problem-solving project based on the workplace that they are working in. Furthermore, students will learn academic and career enhancement skills which will support successful study on the course. There is a strong focus on industry engagement, with live projects and industry visits. The course will involve students attending lectures and seminars with lecturing staff together with a weekly tutorial session with the course director. Entry Criteria

Range 64- 72 UCAS points, four GCSE passes to include English and Maths at grade C (or equivalent), ‘A’ Levels or an approved qualification at Level 3 or via the College’s APEL process. Where an applicant does not hold the formal academic requirements for entry to the programme, but can demonstrate relevant experiential learning across a range of industries, they may apply for admission through the College Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL) process. In such cases, contact the Course Director for the programme who will advise further. To be eligible to commence study on this HLA Pathway, applicants must have secured full-time paid employment in a relevant business sector.

Any applicant whose first language is not English or who has not achieved a grade C in a recent GCSE in English Language should demonstrate their competence in written and spoken English at IELTS – Academic 6.0, with minimum 5.5 in all four elements of the test. Trinity ISE - Pass at Level 3 (with a Pass in each component) also meets this requirement for Tier 4 visa purposes.
